Dr. Emily Poynter
Emily grew up in rural Ottawa. She had the dream and drive to work with animals from a very young age. Growing up she had horses, dogs, and cats. Emily started her career in the veterinary field as a Registered Veterinary Technician here in Nova Scotia in 2008. After a few years in the field, she made the decision to further her education and fulfill her aspiration of being a Veterinarian. Emily attended the Atlantic Veterinary College in PEI where she completed the DVM program. She came back to live in beautiful Nova Scotia after graduation with Dan, baby Audrey and their crew of furry children – Ellie, Marner and Whirly Durdle.
Having fulfilled the dream of becoming a Veterinarian, Emily is now so excited to embark on the adventure of small business ownership. She is so happy to have created Hammonds Plains Veterinary Hospital alongside her co-owner William, her husband Dan, and great friend Deidra.
